March, 2008:

We took a week to explore Southeastern New Mexico. On our list was White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, and Roswell. We saw lots of beautiful country, and although it was a little chilly and windy, we had a great time trying out our new rig in the state parks. Pictures were posted as we went, so they are in reverse order.

We had to cross the mountains to get to the eastern side of NM. This is Cloudcroft after a recent snow.

Darrell had to get himself a souvenir from "you know where".

Darrell had to see what Roswell was all about, and of course, we visited the UFO museum. It was nicely done, very informative, and satisfied our curiosity.

One of the many ancient formations in the caverns. This was in the "Big Room".

Melinda dons her hardhat in preparation for our "3 hour tour" through the bowels of Carlsbad Caverns. We took the Lower Cave Tour. We were the only ones on the tour. We got to rappel down a knotted rope, then on to 3 ladders to get beneath the "Big Room".

Our new, shorter version of our "house on wheels". At 28 ft long, it now fits in most of the state parks around the country.
